Turkey is the first place most people price dental crowns abroad, usually a set of zirconium crowns for the front teeth or a full set. Serbia is the country they find when they look for the same work with a shorter flight. This is a head-to-head on what a zirconium crown costs in each country, what a "package" does and does not include, and the questions that separate a good set of crowns from the ones dentists at home end up redoing. For the wider comparison with Hungary and Croatia, see the country-by-country guide.
Dental crown prices: Turkey vs Serbia vs home
Our prices are on the dental crowns page. The other figures are typical published ranges for 2026 and vary with the clinic and what a package includes.
| Per tooth | Belgrade (us) | Turkey | Hungary / Croatia | Austria | Germany |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Zirconium crown | €250 | €180 to €350 | €350 to €500 | €1,300 | €1,450 |
| Metal-ceramic crown | €200 | €150 to €250 | €250 to €400 | €1,000 | €1,150 |
| Full set, 24 zirconia crowns (Hollywood smile) | €6,000, hotel and transfers included | €3,000 to €6,000 | €8,000 to €12,000 | about €21,000 | about €25,000 |
Per tooth, Turkey and Serbia sit in the same range, and both are a fraction of Austrian and German prices. The cheapest Turkish quotes are usually for a lower-grade material, fewer teeth than the plan ends up needing, or a package with the hotel left out, so compare what is in the number before you compare the number.
Zirconium crowns in Turkey: the package model
Turkish clinics mostly sell crowns as a package: a fixed number of zirconium crowns, hotel and transfers, done in one trip of five to seven days. That model is efficient, and it is why prices are low. Its weakness is that the package is decided before the dentist sees you: the number of teeth is set by the price list, not by the state of each tooth. The complaints UK and German dental associations have published about "Turkey teeth" are almost all about that: healthy teeth crowned because the package said 20, heavy reduction to make the result very white and very even, and no one at home willing to take responsibility for it afterwards.
The same thing can happen in any country, Serbia included. What protects you is a tooth-by-tooth plan, not the flag on the clinic.
How we do crowns in Belgrade
- One plan per tooth. Crowns where a tooth is broken, root-treated, heavily filled or worn; veneers where a healthy tooth only needs a better colour or shape; nothing where nothing is wrong. Mixed plans are normal.
- Materials you can name. Zirconia and metal-free ceramics for front teeth, metal-ceramic for back teeth and bridges if you prefer the lower price. The ceramics we use are imported from Germany and Switzerland. See zirconium crowns in Serbia.
- Temporaries, then the final crowns. Teeth are prepared under local anaesthetic, temporary crowns go on the same day, and the final crowns are tried in and cemented once the laboratory has made them. A few crowns or a full set are done in one trip, typically within a week.
- One named dentist. The work is done by Dr Bojan Perduv, who is also the person you speak to before you book, not a patient coordinator.
- Hotel and transfers included for patients coming from abroad, and a free online consultation before you fly. See dental tourism in Serbia.
Five questions to ask any clinic, in Turkey or Serbia
- Which teeth, and why each one? A written plan that says which teeth get crowns, which get veneers and which are left alone. If every tooth gets a crown, ask why.
- Which material, exactly? Zirconia, lithium disilicate or metal-ceramic, in writing. "Porcelain" on its own can mean several things.
- How much tooth is removed? A crown always needs reduction, but a plan built on veneers for healthy teeth removes far less. Ask for both options where both are possible.
- What is in the price? Examination, X-ray, temporaries, final crowns, the check-up, hotel and transfers. If the hotel is extra, add it before you compare.
- Who stands behind the work, and where? A named dentist and a written warranty you can actually use. A crown that fails in year three needs someone to go back to.
The shade: the regret people most often describe
A set of crowns in a bleach shade (BL1 to BL4) is whiter than any natural tooth, and on most faces it reads as "done". The patients who are happiest years later chose a natural bright shade (A1 or B1) and a shape that follows their own teeth. A useful rule: teeth should not be whiter than the whites of your eyes. We choose the shade with you in daylight, with the shade guide held against your teeth, and the laboratory works from photographs, not from a code alone.
Time and travel
Crowns take one trip in both countries. Belgrade is two to three hours by air from London, Frankfurt, Vienna and Zurich; Istanbul and Antalya are typically four hours or more from Northern Europe, which matters if a crown ever needs adjusting. EU, UK, US, Canadian and Australian citizens need no visa for stays of up to 90 days in Serbia. The dental trip to Belgrade guide covers flights, hotel and the week day by day.
When Turkey is the better choice
- You want the lowest possible package price and have checked the clinic's named dentists, the exact material and independent reviews.
- You live closer to Turkey than to the Balkans.
When Serbia is the better choice
- You want to be told which teeth to leave alone, and to pay per tooth rather than per package.
- You want to speak to the dentist who will treat you before you book.
- You want a short flight in case anything needs a follow-up visit.
Frequently asked questions
How much do zirconium crowns cost in Turkey?
Typically €180 to €350 per tooth in published 2026 prices, depending on the clinic and the material grade. In Belgrade a zirconium crown is €250 per tooth, and a full set of 24 is €6,000 with hotel and transfers included.
Are dental crowns cheaper in Turkey or Serbia?
Per tooth they are in the same range. The cheapest Turkish packages are lower; like for like, with the same material and the hotel included, the prices are close. Both are 80 to 85 percent below Austria and Germany.
Which is better for crowns, zirconia or metal-ceramic?
Zirconia for front teeth and anywhere the look matters: it is translucent like enamel, keeps its colour and never shows a grey line at the gum. Metal-ceramic is strong and cheaper and still a sound choice for back teeth and bridges. The types of dental crowns and cost guide compares all four types.
How long do zirconium crowns last?
With normal care and yearly check-ups, well over a decade and often more than 20 years. The crown cannot decay, but the tooth under it can, so cleaning along the gum line is what decides its life.
Can I get a full set of crowns in one trip?
Yes. A full set is how a Hollywood smile is made: preparation and temporaries at the start of the week, try-in and cementing at the end. See the Hollywood smile in Turkey vs Serbia comparison for that specific case.
Next step
Send two photos, one smiling and one with the lips pulled back, plus an X-ray if you have one, through the free online consultation. You get a tooth-by-tooth plan that says crown, veneer or nothing for each tooth, with a fixed price to put next to the Turkish quote. Finished cases are on the before and after page.
